HOW TO ANALYSE A SHORT STORY 1.   Title of story and collection, author's name, year of publication. 2.   Crucial information about the author  3.   Essential Plot 4.   Main characters’ description 5.   Climax/Turning Point 6.   Setting (where, when) 7.   Narrator/point of view 8.   Themes/main ideas, main message 9. Narrative s tructure (background information, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution: does the story unfold in chronological order? Are there any flashbacks /flashforwards?...) and language (word choice, imagery, tone…) 10.   Impact  on the reader (would you recommend it? Why/why not?) and parallels with other texts.

The American's Guide to France F rance is a medium-sized foreign country situated in the continent of Europe. It is an important member of the world community, though not nearly as important as it thinks. It is bounded by Germany, Spain, Switzerland and some smaller nations of no particular importance and with not very good shopping. France is a very old country with many treasures, such as the Louvre and Euro Disney. Among its contributions to western civilization are champagne, Camembert cheese and the guillotine.
